Oranienbaum

Oranienbaum is the state reserve-museum. Initially, these lands belonged to the first governor of Petersburg Alexander Menshikov. Here he planted orange trees and built the Big palace (1710—1717). The Chinese palace was built by the Italien architect Rinaldi in Rococo style. It is the only residence which the war left uneffected. The park in Oranienbaum is a forest with beautiful alleys. In the centre of the park there is a pond.
