To visit Kunstkamera — the Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography named after Peter the Great. It is the oldest state museum of Russia. Kunstkamera was founded in 1714 under the decree of Peter I. The museum has become the base for creating Saint-Petersburg (and later Russian) Academy of Sciences. The first Russian observatory, dissecting room and other institutions of the Academy were located in Kunstkamera. The great Russian scientist M. V. Lomonosov has been working in this very building for many years. There is more than a million of exhibit items devoted to the life of different nations in museum funds.
